Dr. Min-Hao Michael Lu is the President of Sagitta Research, LLC.  Mike has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University.  From 2001-2007, he was a Senior Scientist at Universal Display Corporation (UDC).  While at UDC, he worked closely with many leading OLED display manufacturers, including Samsung, Sony and Seiko Epson.

He is an expert on microcavity effects in OLEDs, transparent cathodes and OLED lifetime optimization:
  • He patented several transparent cathode designs that in 2002 led to a top-emission OLED more efficient than the bottom-emitting control and having lifetime 80% of the control. 
  • He led UDC's effort in solution processible phosphorescent OLEDs that doubled both red and green device lifetime while maintaining or improving efficiency every six months for three years. 
  • He was the architect of a hybrid OLED fabrication system capable of both solution process and vacuum thermal evaporation.
  • He was among the first to suggest using microlens array to increase OLED outcoupling efficiency and the first to recognize the positive impact of high-index substrates on external outcoupling enhancement schemes (US 7,053,547).
  • He was the first to fabricate phosphorescent OLEDs with mixed host emissive layers (US 7,045,952).

Mike is also an expert on the integration of OLEDs onto active-matrix backplanes.  He was on the team that proposed the first 4-TFT pixel for AMOLEDs.  He has several patents on AMOLED pixels and has published papers on power consumption and temperature increase in AMOLED displays.

Mike has over 14 years of experience in this field.  He has more than 45 publications related to OLEDs and AMOLED displays.  He is the inventor or co-inventor on 15 issued US patents.
